It happens to so many of us. Eating a hard piece of candy, falling down, or even getting hit in the face can result in a chipped tooth. Don’t panic, there are plenty of ways to fix the tooth. You don’t have to live with it. If you happen to break or chip your tooth, quickly get in contact with a dentist. You want to get in to see your dentist as soon as possible to avoid further damage and or infection. But in the meantime, and because you need immediate care, you can take these precautions.
- If you are feeling any sort of pain from the chipped or broken tooth, be sure to take an over-the-counter pain killer as soon as possible.
- Mix a water and salt solution to rinse your mouth out with.
- If you decide to eat, try to stick with soft foods only. This way you will avoid biting down on the broken tooth.
- If the chipped tooth is sharp, cover it with a sugarless gum to coat it and prevent it from cutting your tongue or the inside of your cheeks or lips.
